Y'all. I worked here two years. And I'm sick of it.

I drew the line after my new SM "forgot" to call the bug guy until we were finding live roaches swimming in our water pitchers. And after he'd sexually harassed every woman at the store. And sexually harassed me, the trans man he continues to misgender and deadname when he thinks I can't hear him. After faking exposure to COVID to go camping. After my DM protected his ass.

There's been a lot of garbage I've dealt with for 2 years, including being forced to stay open after our sewer line ruptured and I watched our sinks slowly fill with literal sewage water. I dealt with a manager cutting my hours to 4/week because he was mad I asked him to call me by my preferred name. I've dealt with a lot because I loved my job and my location and my coworkers, most of them angels. But I have to draw a line fucking somewhere, and this is it.

Gl to all y'all, I'm out.

I'm so sorry you had to deal with such a horrible employee, let alone store manager. As a fellow trans barista, I have always found sbux to be a safe workplace for me to be myself, but that is completely not ok to have your work experience and self-worth damaged by one incompetent person. He needs to be fired. Be free, brother

It was a variety of managers, lol! I could probably get about 5 people fired for discrimination, all of them store managers (we had 9 in two years) or corporate. Either way, fuck Starbucks.

Gross. Yeah you don't deserve to put up with that

Hey all that sucks. Have you gone above the DM's head and reported all this crap? Or, you know, local media? You're under no obligation to stay OR to do those things, but if you're willing to make one last report you might be able to get the rot cut out, or at least put them on notice for the next guy.

As a non-cis person myself I commend you for staying in that horrible demeaning environment as long as you did. That's not easy.

Actually, most of the managers I've had since I started have had reports that went over the DM's head, with little to no luck in response. At this point, idc. I have a new job and it already seems a little more sane.

As for my identity, I was 16 when I started. This was my first job, so I felt too scared to fight back on anything. We hate to see it, basically.
