opinion question for baristas(self.starbucksbaristas)

hey, so this is something i could really use some advice on. my store had been infested with fruit flies for almost a year. they're all over the walls, pastry case, everywhere. we have ants, flies, millipedes. and my manager wont do anything about it. she doesnt even give us enough staff to get any cleaning tasks done. is it wrong of me to file a health complaing with the city? our dm just ignores the problem and we constantly get bad reviews mentioning the bugs and general lack of cleanliness in the store.
any advice is really appreciated. i'm really struggling with what to do here.

I would contact your regional manager and mention that you will be filing a health complaint if the issue is not resolved. That is unacceptable

In my opinion no. Won’t make you popular in the store but you can’t preach about customer experience and third place if they’re disgusted. Speak for them imo

Go to your RM. Give them one week to remedy the problem. If nothing happens in that time, call the health department. The fact that it's so bad customers are taking note speaks volumes about your sm and dm.

I would almost just file a complaint with the city and not talk to the rm..... it will be anonymous and you won't face any retaliation that way. Sure, contacting the rm and giving them an ultimatum would be optimal at this point. Give them the benefit of the doubt to fix the problem. But in the event that they don't, you're stuck in a shitty place and everyone will know it was you that called. People will blame you for loss of hours and any other consequences that come as a result. You will have a hard time transferring or promoting and your sm can retaliate in small ways that they can explain away(scheduling you shit hours saying that's what the store needs, etc.)
I just watched someone I work with go through something similar for complaining about something to the rm. Do what you feel is right for you but be aware of the consequences it might have for your job.

I would call it in yourself. Call the Starbucks facilities contact center and they someone will come to spray.

Also clean your pastry case with bleach and spray the food, (since we can't serve it anyways) This will detier the flies and keep them from breeding in the food. Also. Poor boiling hot bleach water down your drains. Instant death to thier main breeding ground.
