Does anyone know what Starbucks is going to do about partner numbers getting stolen by teens on tiktok? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by cloudymacchiato
My numbers haven’t been stolen as far as I know, but I was wondering if anyone knew if Starbucks was going to do something about this challenge that’s been going around tiktok? I asked my SM and she didn’t even know it was a thing that was going on, so I wasn’t able to get an answer.

They should take our numbers off the receipts. There’s no reason for it to be on there. I would rather my first name on there instead of my number.

I was told by my SM that the receipts are being changed to have our numbers as “XXX0165” etc, having the first three anonymous. My SM sent our store group chat a screenshot of a test-run receipt and an explanation that was sent to SMs in the area.

Why would they do anything when policy already requires you to ID anyone who verbally gives their partner numbers?

See above. Numbers and ID is not one of the options.

That’s incorrect.

> **Obtaining the Partner Markout and Merchandise Discount:** To obtain the weekly partner markout and in-store merchandise discount in any participating company- operated store, partners must present their current Partner Card **OR share their partner number with valid ID to confirm name at the Point of Sale (POS) register**. The partner number will be validated for the discount. The partner may present a Partner Card in one of the following versions:

> • temporary paper Starbucks Partner Card along with a photo identification,

> • plastic Starbucks Partner Card, or

> • Starbucks Partner Card image on the Starbucks App.

So you can have one of the three options of Partner Cards, one of which, the temporary Partner Card, requires ID, or you can verbally share your numbers and show ID.

I'll find the reference. It specifically states knowing you partner numbers is not enough

That’s a direct quote from the Partner Guide.

If every store would simply follow the actual standard and ask to scan the partners physical card, partner card on the mobile app, or paper card plus valid id, this would not be a thing. No one follows the standard consistently

I mean yes but I have multiple trans friends who are partners with their dead names on their IDs as well as partners who go by their middle name and not their first. I think that’s where asking for an ID becomes an issue. I’ve had managers tell me to just ask for the name connected to the numbers as to not make anyone upset, which is why I’m curious what they’re going to do about the numbers.

Partners can contact partners services and they are happy to update partner info to prefered names whenever possible. Sometimes we can't, like on IRS documents unless the partner has had a legal name change which btw our EAP legal benefits can help them achieve

You can update your partner information with whatever name you want to be called by, which should then also show up on their digital partner Starbucks card account.

Now we are being carded even when we do have the physical card, and it’s on the app. Kinda annoying.
chom612 3 points 2y ago
That's not the standard
You should not t have to present ID If you have the physical card or the app. ID is only required if you only have the paper card they sometimes fill out in the back of the Partner Welcome Packet.
Print the requirement and post it at every POS.

Don’t I know it, I even politely informed the barista of the standard and told her it was in the weekly update. Stores in my area are all going crazy over this.

Print the policy and keep it at the front pos and drive thru
