I’m tired (self.starbucksbaristas)

I’m a full time student as well as working 30 hours a week. I can’t keep surviving on 400 every two weeks. I give this corporation too much of my time and labor and I’m disrespected by higher management and customers daily and I’m just so over it all. I love my coworkers and I really don’t want to leave. I don’t know where to go either all I know is I can’t keep putting in so much of myself to barely be able to cover my living costs and have nothing leftover , ever.

Look into your University for internship or office opportunities! talk to admissions, registrar's, advisors, human resources, anything! That way your work place is the same as where you are studying. Starbucks is 100% not worth working at if you're trying to support yourself with other things that you're doing. It's a way more demanding part time job than anything I've ever worked. And you don't deserve that stress. (I worked at an absolutely wonderful store, but we were so, so busy. It's not worth the money).

I feel you, pay is crap and honestly the job is only enjoyable because of my partners, regulars, and the occasional cute pets.

literally in the same boat. i requested a maximum of 15 hours a week for the past month because i’m completely burnt out from working EVERY single day, and i ended up with a minimum of 20-25 a week. i love my coworkers, but so many of them are quitting now because they’re feeling the exact same way which means MORE hours for the rest of us. on top of that, nobody will cover anyone’s shifts anymore regardless of it being a family emergency or just really needing a break, making the store environment so much more toxic. i start uni again in a week and i’m scheduled for 23 hours (which i know isn’t a lot to some ppl, but as a uni student who is trying to do online courses on top of being burnt out from work it’s hard) and i desperately need a break.
