has anyone else noticed that customers have been 10x ruder since reopening all the stores?? at my location, customers have just been constantly talking down to us and treating us like we’re idiots for no reason. yeah, we’ve always had some rude ones, but recently almost everyone has had an attitude with us. YOU’RE the one insisting on coming during a pandemic. why am I the problem?

It’s because all the nice, smart people have stayed home

I started working here the very beginning of February so take this with a grain of salt but my store didn't have any issues with rude customers until everything reopened. Like we had the occasional one but not very often. Like once every few days. Now there is multiple a day, my store is still pretty lucky in how much we have, but it still sucks from hardly ever dealing with it to being every day

like i literally had a lady yell at me tonight because i’m confirmed her drink was a tall and she said “SMALL. it’s a SMALL” like.... yes, that’s what i said thank you
randomyucky18 points2y ago
I hate customers tbh. I have found it easier to just repeat back to them with small medium large to avoid getting yelled at. Usually if a customer is unsure of the size names I just say "you can say small medium and large and we know what you mean" which makes the transaction go quicker. If i ever get in trouble for it ima just be like "customer connections you know. Making the moment right. Making the customer feel better" but in reality it's just so the go away faster

Yesterday morning we had a lady pull across from the window to ask if we had pumpkin scones, and then got out of her car to scream at the customer for "interrupting her" who pulled up to the actual window bc that's what you do at a DT. It gets wild out here dude

Yeah people were terrible before but now they’re even worse
BlackHollowGhoul242 points2y ago
Thats just what working through a pandemic is like, people are stressed and it sucks that we have to deal with it on top of work
cozzakitten1 points2y ago
yeah I mean I’ve never been ok with people taking out their problems on service industry workers especially now that we’re all going through it ya know? I get closer to quitting every day and it sucks, about to hit 2 years next week

A customer chewed us out yesterday when we gave her the total for her half-breve half-whole milk latte (charging her for the breve), and she insisted the total was lower and “had the receipts to prove it”, and that us baristas “like to overcharge people whenever we want” 😂
trashabrina [OP]3 points2y ago
it’s kinda funny when that happens tho. i had a mom chew me out in dt because her daughter ordered a grande frap and added caramel drizzle, extra syrup, different milk, and stuff like that to it so the frap was ~7.50$. she got mad at ME for overcharging her and i printed off the receipt and had to explain that adding more than the standard recipe OBVIOUSLY costs more because you’re using more ingredients. she then turned around and looked at her daughter and said “are you SERIOUS?” and asked if the frap was already made, which is was. she paid and then told me she will never come back:)
