It's probably just me, but I hate regulars who say their name instead of their order(self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by denahom-chikn
We have a regular who comes in every morning and says "Hey its (her name)" and it's always bothered me. I'm normally a night shift, so the first time I took her order I was beyond confused. She's the only person who does this out of all of our regulars. Even the ones who come more than once a day just say their order (even if we can always finish it for them). I have no idea why this bothers me as much as it does, but please just say your order instead of just your name and make our lives easier

Your not the only one. I hate it too. Especially when I’ve got a store full of green beans and they don’t know the person/have no idea what they’re talking about. Usually the regulars that do that get pissed if you don’t know the order.

Def comes across as entitled
alexthebiologist15 points2y ago
So typical Starbucks then? ;)

I’m more likely to remember the other way around, like, hear them say “triple espresso macchiato with four stirred honey and a stir stick” and I go “oh yes Jingleheimer, how’s today?”
misguidedghostman23 points2y ago
Yes!!! And if it’s someone you’ve never helped before, they get sooo mad that you don’t know their order. Like hello???????

People like this are the worst. I had an incident when I transferred to another store and it was my first day there. I was on till and this lady walks in and says hi to the other partners so I now know she’s a regular and she approaches till. She just stands there and doesn’t say a word and looks at me as if i’m supposed to know her order. I greet her like any other customer and she gets mad at me that I don’t know her or her order. And I’m taken aback because excuse me how entitled is she. I responded that’s it’s my first day at a new store and she should know that since she knows every partner at the store except me. Thank goodness my shift came out of nowhere and saved me by dealing with her.

We have a lady that does this and normally I wouldn't care, but she ALWAYS says theres something wrong with her drink. She will stand at the bar and go "is that grande or tall? IS THAT GRANDE? Did you get the 2.5 pumps? EXACTLY 2.5! This needs like not even half a pump more" etc. every fucking time she comes in. So sometimes we make it a thing to pretend to not know her drink or name because it annoys her lol.
Like most of the other regulars that order that way are super nice so I don't care, but this one lady is so rude every time and actively tries to get into arguments with us.

Ugh I hate this. I used to have a regular that would pull up and just say “hi, it’s me” like wtf
MargauxWarren10 points2y ago
We have a customer the same way! She always comes through the drive thru and says ‘hey it’s _____ I’ll have decaf this morning and you know the rest’. The first time I was in drive I was like ‘hey! Nice to meet you I’m actually pretty new, do you mind telling me your order?’ It took her almost 5 minutes to tell me what she wanted. She doesn’t know. She’s a super nice lady but it would be extremely helpful if she just learned her order. Half of the time my coworkers just butt in and say ‘come on up’. Half of my store doesn’t know her order.
aimsthename885 points2y ago
That sucks!!! How do you forget your own order?
MargauxWarren3 points2y ago
I don’t think they ever cared to know it. Or they knew it a long time ago and then our store just got into the hang of making it for her before she orders and then she just forgot? I’m not exactly sure.

I hate when mobiles say their drink instead of their name.
Th3xMagister6 points2y ago
"it's Felisha" "Ok, do you have a mobile order?" *Comes to window*
Mariiriini4 points2y ago
It's this one:
"Hello friend, I'll have the same!"
Yes hello, and what do you normally get?
"The same! The same I get every day!"
Yes, but I don't know what that is, I see 70+ regulars every day! What do you normally get?
"Ughhhhh, a tall pike!"
Cream or sugar?
"Sugar!"
How much?
"The same!!!"

Holy shit people do this?? Damn wack as shit
randomyucky3 points2y ago
We have a dude that we printed out his sticker for his drink and taped it on the register and he just walks in, reaches around the plexiglass and aggressively points to the sticker and throw his cash at us 🙃 we all hate him

Lol me! Im a green bean so i dont know anyones name kr order and it makes the other partners upset that i dont know and im like you im usually a night shift but i just recently go put in the mornings so yeah yoir not the only one
awarmlight1 points2y ago
Is it Cindy? Do you work at my store? or the two others in the district she does this at?
dfarner-19 points2y ago
If you hate it then you are definitely in the wrong business. This is customer service. Knowing their name and order is part of it. I see people pulling in the parking lot and already have it rung in by the time they get inside. Don’t hate it, be better.
garnetsngrit13 points2y ago
Dude this isn’t some small town cafe with the same regulars every day, it’s fucking Starbucks. They’re are hundreds of customers every single day and thousands of drinks made, not to mention that sbux has a wildly high turnover rate so the odds of you placing your order with someone who’s new is pretty high. Just say your drink order it’s not hard
leopardsocks8 points2y ago
Lol honestly fuck right off.
Mariiriini5 points2y ago
Congratulations on your slow store.
My store saw 175 halves on weekday peaks, with the vast majority being daily regulars. We still see 50-75 halves on weekday peaks with 20-35 halves through the afternoon. I don't expect any barista to memorize 300+ orders in order to serve someone who can't be assed to remember their own.

I’m sorry I was poor at my job last year when I was ringing in drinks for the first time and didn’t know one lady’s regular order. I’m sorry she shooed me away and called over another partner because I took too long to find the customization button for the first time. I’m sorry that you actually think that memorizing is absolutely necessary for our jobs. I hate people like you who give every newbie an awful feeling of neverending failure that won’t end. People like YOU are the reason I transferred from my old store and I actually became a well experienced when I was actually given a chance.
dfarner-5 points2y ago
If you are new of course that’s fine. I’m never gonna put someone down that just started and is still learning. But this sub all day is people bitching about having to deal with customers. That’s the job. If you hate it so much then leave.
nobullshitplz2 points2y ago
The job is learn how to make drinks, ring them in and clean the store. Your attitude creates the awful feeling for the green beans when they don’t understand how to do something. I’ve seen customers who bitch like crazy when you don’t have their drink memorized. Hell, my new store actually had a regular (this guy stopped coming in for a separate reason) who actually didn’t even remember what his own drink was. The problem was he customized a tea and did some bullshit with that before he simplified it. I’m sorry I know “some” regulars but not all of the insane modified ones. That’s not my job to know their drinks. It’s their job to know their drinks and my job to give that drink to them. You’re the reason people think secret menus are a real thing that baristas know. Thank you for HELL
