Get fired or Resign. (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by QueenOfTheKitchen1
I'm moving to a new state on the 13th of September. It is a last minute decision, I have a few days to pack I'm scheduled to work during the next two weeks and have yet to put in my two weeks notice. I'm wondering if I should resign or just no call no show until I'm fired. My last shift I spoke to my ss about my move. He said to let the manager know asap. I have yet to connect with her since I'm always closing and she doesn't work past 3pm. If I quit I can't apply for unemployment until I find a job, but if I no call I mess with schedule. And like I said I'm a closer so no one ever wants to pick up those shifts so I'd feel bad. But also working for the bux has been the worst experience of my life and i just want to be done. Any advice out there??

Resign.
I definitely understand the unemployment factor and it can be difficult to push through two more weeks of hell.

However, seeing how the economy is so shaky, it’d be unwise to burn bridges.
You never know if you lose your next job and will need to fall back on Starbucks. It can also give the wrong impression on future employers.

You won’t be elligible to collect unemployment if you get fired because of wrongdoing either, so let’s get that out of the way.

You should resign. If you get fired for no call no show, you will be inelligible for rehire and all future employers who call for a reference will be told that you wouldn’t be welcomed back at Starbucks. You can make your own choices, but there’s no real benefit to getting fired.

True not that I want to come and will for sure never come back. I've only been with the company for eight months. My last job I was with years. This job was a means to an end so I'm not really worried about that. But you do make a point about unemployment thank you.

That’s fair.

For an alternative suggestion, I had a coworker who has the same issue of never seeing our manager so they took a picture of them holding their resignation letter in the back, a picture of them leaving it in our manager’s box, and then texted both to our manager.

Resign, just in case. You never know what life will throw at you. Don’t burn your bridges . Good luck! 🍀

Is transferring not a option ? Talking it out with your manager ? see what can be done

Get fired by telling a rude customer to get the fuck out and stay away /s

So if you get fired you can’t work at another starbucks but if you resign you can work at another starbucks?

From my understanding yes if you're deemed rehireable (i think that's a word 🤔) at your separation from the company then yes. Not that I'm ever trying to work for Starbucks again.
