So I was just given the option from my SM , either be terminated or stay on LOA till march. The first time I took LOA and it seemed fine yk because unemployment and all, but now imo I think I just wanna end it here at this store and get hired in a diff location or find a diff job. I mean rn Im working at amazon part time so its not bad, butttttt I just wanted help, wanted to know more info about each option again. I know she was talking about being terminated and still being able for rehiring and 60 hours payed or something but Im still lost about it so I would like some explanation on both it anyone can help me !! Thank you!

First of all, they are once again *preferences*, not options. You can tell your manager that you want to take the severance, but they can tell you no.
The first preference is an extension of the LOA we’re already on. Nothing changes except they pushed it from September 30th to March 28th. You still receive any benefits you have, you still get your markouts and discount, and you can be recalled to any store before March 28th. You’ll still be able to collect unemployment benefits if you already are.
The second preference is the same severance package they offered the first time around. If you’re a barista, you get paid out for 60 hours of work and if you currently have health benefits, you’ll get an additional lump sump to go towards COBRA. These lump sums are taxed extremely high, like 40%. You’ll be elligible to apply for unemployment benefits and you’re elligible for rehire as soon as stores start hiring again.

Quick question! If I go with LOA, am I able to look for hours at another store or even transfer to another store?

I would take the termination option honestly if you have another job or care about going to the same store. I have a coworker who’s been on LOA this whole time it’s been an option...and my manager has hired multiple new people since. I doubt she would be able to come back to my store. There won’t be room for her.
