get ready for a ride bc here we go. so i applied to work at one store but ended up getting hired for a different location, BUT i got trained at the store i originally applied to. they (poorly) trained me for about a week. literally all the baristas told me i got trained horribly bc i was never with one person consistently, i got trained by about 4 different people.
i started at my new store today and i absolutely hate it. i don’t wanna go back there ever again. they’re severely understaffed bc they lost a bunch of ppl when covid hit, thus resulting in me pulling a 9 hour shift with no lunch break😐😐 i don’t know anyone and miss all my old coworkers. i want to work at the location i got trained at but that’s not where i was hired😞😞 some of the baristas can get rlly demanding too, i even cried today. it doesn’t have the same feeling of when i was at the store i trained at. everyone is so nice to me there but here... they just threw me into the ring to crash and burn.
idk what to do bc i would be happier at the other location and i’m v tempted to not show up to my shift tomorrow at my new store bc that’s how much i hated it.

So you’ve only worked at the store for one day? Give it some time. You can’t really judge a place based on one day there. If after a week or so you still hate it, transfer to the store you got trained at.

yup just one day, the baristas from the other store warned me about what i was getting into. it never slowed down today either, not once. we were lucky enough for it to die down for 10 min so i could get some ice. and they literally only have three baristas at that location. the rest come from surrounding stores, it was horrible

updates- i’m going today but only bc i have tomorrow off. when i get back i’m emailing the manager from the other store to see if i can get transferred back

What country are you in? In Canada, your employer is legally obligated to give you a break at certain point, and I don’t know how poor labour laws are in the States.

unfortunately i’m in the states😔

You still need a lunch break, at least depending on the state, but I thibk its also policy.....

Maybe give it some time if you can, a lot of stores are suffering right now because of the amount of people that have quit. Eventually it will get better. And please whatever you do don’t just not show up, that’s not cool at all. Your coworkers will suffer even more if they’re down a person. Maybe try to get it covered or something.
