I used to hate on customers when I worked here too (though I was always nice), but this is an experience from the other side as a customer (self.starbucksbaristas)

So my Mom went to Starbucks today and ordered two Espresso Fraps with caramel drizzle. The chick forgot the frap base in one of them, used nitro lids, and forgot to give my Mom straws. My Mom took the bad Frap back, and when she remade it, my Mom then asked for straws. She said with a big attitude “Those are strawless lids. THAT’S why you didn’t get a straw!!”
I wish I was there. I would have calmly said “Well those lids are for cold brew drinks, especially nitro, not Fraps. Straws fit in them anyway, and you can’t drink the frap through this lid. Why can’t you just give us a straw please?
My Mom just nicely asked for a straw anyway and she reluctantly handed them to her, with an attitude and slammed the window in her face. My Mom didn’t do anything wrong and this Barista was being super rude. I know it’s a tough job, and forgetting the base is a mistake anyone can make, especially on an espresso frap, but she should have just given her the dam straw without a bunch of fuss about it, when us having those lids was her fault anyway.
We didn’t complain to the manager or anything, we’re not like that, the whole point of this is to just see things from the other side too, and to not be petty with customers who aren’t being petty with you, and just want decent service.
Edit: Didn’t know about new lids, stopped working here in 2019, but they apparently still get straws anyway. Thank you for the comments everyone! I hope you all have nice customers and a good day! I certainly do try to make people who serve me live’s easier! I’ve been there too!
