I started working at Starbucks back in March of this year, so I don’t know all of the specifics about seasonal music or whatnot, especially since when the store was drive thru only and lobby was closed for quarantine, we could play our own music. Today the soundtrack at my store was almost exclusively Disney music sung by celebrities, and several songs actually repeated throughout my shift. I asked my ssv, “What’s with the Disney music?” and she said, “Kids are back in school, dude!” to which I, more puzzled than before, asked, “What does back to school have to do with Disney songs?” and she shrugged.
Is this a thing? Do we play Disney music to signal back to school? Why would we do that, if the kids are supposed to be in school and therefore not in a Starbucks listening to Lion King or Frozen 2?? I’m utterly bamboozled.
