i definitely lost my temper one day and slapped someone’s hand with the straw i was holding. i was standing *right there* already *grabbing straws for someone else.* he could have just asked me!!! i was RIGHT THERE I DIDN’T HAVE MY BACK TURNED OR ANYTHING

i do not condone this, i was a barista for a year and have been a shift supervisor for 3 years now. I try my hardest every day to see the best in everyone but sometimes people need a light slap on the hand with a plastic straw.

Ohhh I know /exactly/ what you're talking about. We even have signs on the glass asking customers to not reach over, and it happens still.

I don’t get why customers feel the need to take off or pull down their masks to order. Just speak louder through the mask then I could hear you.

I was handing off drinks and this dude looks at me in the eyes and goes under the glass and takes it. I didn’t even tell him anything cuz he’s always does it.

I see this and raise you “please don’t pump things on the counter into your hands because I guarantee you it won’t be sanitizer and I will not be sympathetic when you have sticky hands”

A lady kept turning drinks under the plastic guard to try and find hers. I said to her, “Please don’t reach under. We have these up for a reason.” She said, “The guy over there said I could.” I looked over at my coworker and he said “No, I didn’t.” Then I said “Not true. Please wait for us to give you your drink.” She got mad, started calling me rude, saying she’d report me, etc.

My manager was next to me the whole time. She apologized to her. Then proceeded to reprimand me.

*sigh*

We put a large table in front of the counter so you can just reach the edge of the counter where we set drinks out for you when they’re ready so that people can’t physically reach behind the guards

this happened THREE times during my four hour shift this morning. i just don’t fucking get it. infuriating.
