I generally like to offer up some sort of joke, messing around with them if they seem to be the type of people who wouldn’t get offended. Example, had a girl mention she usually goes to dunkin, I told her don’t bring those dunkin vibes around here! Which drink is yours?! (Ordered multiples as she had friends in the car)

I like to find something to compliment or (politely) comment about something about the customer. Some of mine are “I love your tattoo! Who’s your artist?” Or “it’s such a perfect day to have your top down, huh?” (When the car is an open jeep or a convertible or something). Just be earnest and observant and try to avoid sticking to a script. The customers know when you’re reciting.
