Pending new changes by Starbucks, but I’ll let you know what I originally learned and the updates that I’ve been informed of by my DM.
Originally, the “add dairy” was up to 4 or 5 ounces. In general, this didn’t come into play unless the customer wanted to construct their own iced latte and wanted a grande amount of milk on top of their two shots in a venti cup.
However, the last thing that I heard from my DM is to completely disregard the amount of milk and to always use the “add dairy” buttons. The way that he put it, Starbucks is moving towards a “any amount of milk is free” mindset. This opens the door for people to order three shots of espresso in a venti cup and have us fill the entire cup with milk for the price of the shots. Starbucks has already removed the 4 or 5 ounce training from new partners and I believe is actually changing the milk screen to only have a single milk type button rather than the two separate sides.
