Question? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by Stevekoala
I’m a former barista for Starbucks and I’ve been trying to get rehired, but the district manager in my I guess has a rule we’re she doesn’t allow former partners to be rehired. My question is, has anyone ever heard of this/is there any way around her to be rehired?

That’s weird. Were you listed as non rehirable?

No, that’s the thing. I talked to the store manager that I applied to and she said that she would hire me but the district manager advised her not to take rehires.

That’s weird, I feel like if a partner left on good terms that you would want rehires. Especially now since they’re easier to train. I’ve never heard of that I’m sorry :(

Thank you, I was thinking about calling partner services but I don’t know if that will do anything

I would call. They can’t really discriminate solely based on the fact that you would be a rehire especially if your file says you left on good terms. Call and see if there’s anything they can do before ruling it out totally. I had the same issue and it took me years to get rehired but I kept trying.

In your other comment, you said the DM has *advised* store manager not to take rehires, which is probably going to be a keyword. But even if the DM has said we’re not taking rehires whatsoever, “Former Employee” isn’t a protected class. As long as that’s the only factor stopping you from getting hired, I’m not sure it would count as discrimination in a way that would make a difference.

You can for sure reach out the PRC, but you might be better off looking for a different district.

I’ll try another district but I was trying to work closer as the next district is an hour away

I wonder if you got hired in another district if it would be easier to transfer to qhere you actually want to work. Might be a good loophole

You should also look at licensed stores, like Target or your local grocery store. District Managers don’t last forever.
