Customer connection? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by kanyon01
I really do enjoy talking to customers but I hate having to be rushed. I hate having to throw all my drinks together for some stupid fucking fast drive thru times. They can’t have both. Would you rather I make quality drinks and quality connections or rushed drinks of lower quality and rushed connections? I understand there’s always pressure from corporate but it seems pointless to even try anymore. Why bother? Why not just stand behind the bar like a drone? It seems to be they want us to be as fast as one. Fuck it all

I no longer work at Starbucks but when I interviewed for the local coffee shop I currently work at, I mentioned the same thing. Starbucks expects both extremes when it comes to customer connections and speed/efficiency and its just unrealistic to expect you to be able to do both at all times. I hated being on bar with like twenty drinks trying to get through all of them while my manager was scolding me for not connecting with enough customers or saying hi to everybody who walks through the door.

This is exactly the problem I swear. Jealous you got free to a real coffee shop but I’m tethered to Starbucks for the school. :/
