How to improve my sense of urgency?? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by holmesianschizo
I’m newly back after a year off for disability. I have a bad back and I’m trying to move best I can but I seem to be lethargic and have no sense of urgency.

Does anyone have any recommendations for increasing my sense of urgency??

dont? starbucks isnt rushing to give you a raise/living wage and they certainly dont care enough to invest in your physical health.. why rush to get work done for them?

I know this may seem non helpful but I stopped rushing around when the pandemic gained speed this year in order to properly disinfect areas and wash my hands accordingly.. I dont see the problem with taking your time..

If someone you work with has a problem with it then let it be their problem..

Fourth this! I used to be urgent but now I just don’t care and I go just about as fast because I don’t make as many mistakes :)

Pretty much what everyone else is saying. I just changed my hrs to not be an opener bc my body couldn’t take it anymore. Our peeks are non stop and block scheduling has mostly everyone staying until 12:30-1. I come to open at 4:30. It is exhausting and I’m in shape so I shouldn’t be so drained that I have to sleep the rest of the day. Hopefully the higher ups wake up and start staffing stores better and giving us better tools to work more efficiently.

Why though? you need to take care of your body and your paycheck will be the same whether you are rushing or not. Take care of yourself first, always. its not worth your health

I’m a shift though and don’t want them thinking that I can’t work as hard as they do.

Give minimum effort for minimum wage jobs. I don’t understand people who want to try so hard at this job when there isn’t a reward for the effort.

I’m an SS though. I feel as though I need to bust ass to prove myself.
