If you’re the one who sits with them in the back while they’re doing their computer training, you are their trainer. If you’re being asked to supervise and help them learn after their initial training period, that’s a part of the expectations of a barista (it’s that whole scale of learning / comprehending / teaching, I forget what it’s called in Starbucks terms). We’re all expected to help each other learn. We’re all expected to coach each other. It’s part of our job description as baristas.
I would just be up front with your manager and be like, “Hey I heard from x the other day that they’re going to be training some new partners for our store. I‘ve really appreciated the experience of being so hands on with teaching the new hires that I feel like I’m ready to step into the trainer position. When do you think I’ll be able to start officially training new hires?”

So they wanted to be a trainer yet not pay you the bonus. Sketchy but typical.

I’ve trained 11 people after going through training and receiving my trainer pin... I’ve never gotten a “bonus” for training anyone ...
