starbucks corporate, PLEASE let us turn down the music (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by rabbitmom1999
not only is it impossible to hear anyone give their names so we can get them their mobile orders (which is like the absolute minimum), but it makes customer connections ABSOLUTELY IMPOSSIBLE. “how’s your day going so far?” “what was that?” “I said how’s your day going?” “I’m sorry I can’t hear you, what was that?” “How’s your day going?” “I’m sorry I still can’t hear you” on repeat x50,000 a day. It’s so frustrating

plus I got yelled at by a customer today because I misheard her name and let her order sit on the counter (I thought she was saying Pam, but her name was Kim) and she got SO mad. “this is absolutely ridiculous, you need to turn the music down” “I’m sorry ma’am it’s controlled by corporate” “this is absurd I’m going to Dunkin’ Donuts from now on” like GOOD LEAVE

You guys don’t have a volume knob...?

I mean we do but we’ve already been reprimanded multiple times for turning down the music. we’re the closest store to the regional corporate office and a lot of those employees like to stop by regularly so we tend to be on a slightly tighter leash than other stores I guess

Tell the customers to complain, that should get corporate to listen. They’re all about 3rd space right? I mean we frequently have it turned down pretty low I can only hear it if I’m on front/food.

At mine it's super loud and we get a lot of spanish speaking customers. On top of loud music and a language barrier I have damaged hearing which just makes it that much worse. My day is basically "sorry can you say that again" and then customers get annoyed

Use the iPad to turn it down. The volume knob in the back is super sensitive, but you can put the ipod at like, 80 instead of 100. It isn't super noticeable to the customers, but it keeps you from hearing it behind the line.

Except those damn Elsa songs. They make me want to kill myself.

Just go in the back and turn it down

already explained why we can’t do this in a different comment

If a customer got mad because she had to wait, she was brought up entitled. I encourage you to make them wait more often.
