So there I was on DTR/DTO, and this middle aged man (maybe in late 40s) is enunciating pretty hard and asking me to repeat the total at the window a few times. I guess he decides that I am not an English speaker and proceeds to act kind of rudely. I give him his food and drinks and act perfectly sweet telling him to have a great day. When he doesn’t pull away I ask him if he needs something else, and he says in the worst American accent “servilletas por favor” with an awkward smile and I didn’t understand him like at all (I didn’t realize till later what he was trying to say), so I ask “do you need napkins or another straw?” And he says “um...yes napkins” in an annoyed tone and pulls away after I give it to him. At no point did I initiate a dialogue in Spanish, I have a slightly southern accent because I live in the South. I am Hispanic, but why would this man think speaking in Spanish would make things go faster or be helpful at all. It felt really condescending and embarrassed me a little bc he acted like I was doing something wrong/was illiterate ?? Idk if others get this type of treatment ?
