Should I call my manager after being out sick? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by holmesianschizo
I was on leave of absence for almost a year. I was scheduled to be retrained all last week. First two days went perfectly. On the third day about halfway through my shift I got really nauseous and started having diarrhea and my shift said if I’m sick I’m sick and to go home. I went home and was throwing up the next day and a half.

The manager overseeing my store said everything was fine and it was right to go home especially with Covid. But I’m still having anxiety about it. I don’t work again until Tuesday but my manager will be in on Monday and I wonder if I could call her and make sure everything was communicated correctly by the other manager? I’m just nervous and don’t want anything to happen to me. I have a doctors note and have kept the overseeing manager up to date with everything that’s been happening with my food poisoning.

My dad said it might be a good idea to call and explain to them this isn’t something that’s likely to happen again and had nothing to do with my back (the reason I was on LOA). Can I get in trouble for anything?

Is there any SS, ASM, or SM who could answer this for me? Do I have anything to worry about? Should I call tomorrow?

Im a supervisor... Take a couple deep breaths. You did everything right. You communicated with the store and went home because you were sick. You dont need to reach out to your SM. Try and focus on getting better!! The official policy is letting the store know. :)

So I can’t get in trouble in any way?

Is this something you might be able to be on disability for long term? It certainly sounds like it is affecting your ability to work/function.
