hey guys, i just got hired at starbucks last week and just finished my background check. i was wondering what to expect in terms of training and the job itself, since the only other job i’ve had was working at a movie theater. and any tips regarding dress code would be greatly appreciated! ~ :)

I worked at a movie theater prior to Starbuckss well! Its very different! Theres some boring but important online training they will put you on the floor a bit just bear with everyone and everything! the pandemic hs been really stressful especially when stores have been closing therefore all the regulars disperse to the next available store but dont worry! its going to take you at least 6 months to kinda get the hang of things thats okay! if you have problems of any kind talk to other partners, shifts and store managers they will help you! in regards to dresscode try and stay as close to it as you can until you figure out how loose or close to the dresscode your sm will want you to be! usuallly ask other partners about it. have fun!

I started working for Starbucks just a few weeks ago. the first week is lots of learning and can be quite overwhelming. by the 3rd/4th week you should feel relatively proficient doing most tasks. You will still need to ask other partners what a specific recipe might be from time to time, but for the most part it all comes relatively quickly. Your shift supervisors/managers will also likely have you doing what you’re most comfortable with while you’re still getting used to the environments
As far as dress code is concerned, make sure to wear NEUTRALS!! Dark and nude colors are fine, nothing bright and in your face. Additionally, try to ensure that nothing is torn (no ripped jeans*). Most importantly, always bring a clean apron and always have a name badge. I frequently wear cropped shirts and nobody has complained, granted I usually also wear a sweater and my apron covers my front entirely. However, exposed midriff while working IS against dress code, as is anything overly “promiscuous”. Gym attire is not prohibited, so no leggings either (unless worn under a dress/skirt. It seems like a lot but really any basic pants with any plain shirt will be fine.
Best of luck xx

It’s a good thing Starbucks gives us free therapy because oh boy you’ll need it.

it was actually really fun! at my theater, we would have “sneaks” the night before a big movie would come out and all the employees would watch it together at midnight, we got discounts on concession items, any left over posters were fair game and we could watch a free movie every week if we didn’t call out that week. it was great, even on busy days, but they closed due to covid :(
