I worked as a barista 5 years ago and have been working local cafes since then. Now I'm back and just did day one of training. What do I actually need to learn? (self.starbucksbaristas)

Like the title. I've been away so long they are giving me the green bean treatment, and I have to do training from day 1 again. But I've been working local businesses with much less structure or hierarchy. What do I actually need to be taught that's changed or hasn't changed that I may not remember?

Some recipes of core beverages have changed.
We have blonde espresso, discontinued a buuunch of stuff.
Standards have changed sooo you should pay attention to all the standards.
Dates for product shelf lives have changed.
The reward system changed.
Uhhh yeah
You should be able to catch on faster than the average green bean, but there are a lot of new beverage recipes, and what you knew before is now outdated and possibly “not standard” anymore.
Welcome back [to hell]!

A lot has changed in 5 years. Recipes, standards, routines, etc.

I'm just wondering if there's been anything off the books that has changed a lot. As I was leaving there was a lot of messaging from corporate about their commitment to "the art of craft espresso", while simultaneously launching those weird blended ice beverages. Just interested to see if any thing has changed in the attitudes of corporate.

You are getting training as green bean because a lot has changed in the last 5 years. Just because you have worked in other coffee shops doesn’t mean you don’t need training. Starbucks is different from other coffee shops. You are still making drinks, but the way starbucks runs their business is different and you need to be trained on routines, standards, and recipes.
I would suggest not acting like you know everything just because you worked for starbucks before and have other coffee shop experience and just accept the training, learn the new standards, and go from there.

You will pick up things faster than other green beans because you have the experience though so that’s good. Just let the trainer do their job

Edit: blended beverages were already a thing 5 years ago. So I am a bit confused on your comment about them being launched when you were leaving the company.

The blennded beverages in talking about were called something like "grenadines" or something like that. They were really frustrating to make.

Sorry, I didn't mean to come across as cocky when it comes to making drinks. Yes, im taking things from day one with open ears, but I'm also aware that sometimes the intentions of a policy aren't always what is written on the tin.

Corporate currently has their heads up their collective asses. Things change daily, emotions are running high, if i could find a.job that pays me the same, provides me good health coverage and some semblance of sanity I would be gone in a heart beat.
