Yesterday we my last day at Starbucks, which consisted of me dumping everything and making sure everything was cleaned because we had another partner come in sick and also we had a partner test positive for covid. Their solution was to bring partners from other stores into our store without telling them our store was exposed to COVID and have them work blindly to all this. They also allowed customers to come in without wearing a mask and never said a word to them about having to put one on. At 14 weeks pregnant they didn’t care at all that I was being exposed to all this and so was my child, bc I wasn’t in “close contact” with these partners I was expected to come in and work. Even though partners that did work with these individuals were still coming to work bc they are considered not in “close contact”. The amount of stress I put on myself and my child is not worth the $12 an hour. I loved everyone I worked with and will miss them all so much but I had enough of working for terrible corporations and shitty management. This virus is real not some government ploy that a lot of people assume, wear your damn mask and wash your hands.

YOU MADE THE RIGHT CHOICE. I hope you and your soon-to-be bairn are safe and I hope you find a new position soon that will eclipse your Starbucks job.

I also hope you call PRC and tell them what you've just experienced. This is absolutely disgusting behavior and it puts far too many people at risk.

As the husband of 13 year partner who is just starting her third trimester...they won’t care. She stopped working a little more than 2 months ago when she was promised the covid leave by her store AND district managers. Turns out that wasn’t true and her covid leave was denied (she requested it literally a couple days after the deadline. Her plan was to take the 10 year coffee break so she said no to the covid leave. Come to find out starbucks ended the 10 year coffee breaks during covid without telling anyone. Tried to get the covid leave. Was told she had the covid leave. Then they come back and say nevermind). Tried for a medical leave that was denied. And now has been jumping through HOOPS trying to get a medical accommodation. Many hundreds of dollars spent asking her doctor to send page after page of paperwork. Two months later now and there still is no answer from sedgwick. She has no idea if her job is safe or if she’s fired for missing those unprotected days. She’s been there for almost 14 years and now this. Starbucks sucks.

:( that’s so sad. I work with some partners who have been there for 13+ years and they usually seem to get treated well. But a lot of them complain that Starbucks is not the same anymore. And just from working here starting a year ago I can tell because now we’re told more to care about drive times. It used to be about genuine connection. How could they do that to her :( you guys should get a lawyer or something although I know they’re expensive. It’s not fair that they didn’t tell anyone that coffee break stopped

Good for you putting your own health and safety first! They act like they care about us but then when you have an issue or concerns it's brushed aside.

A billion dollar corporation isn’t worth putting you and your child’s health at risk. You made a really good choice, I’m sorry you were put through that but I’m happy you no longer have to deal with that negligence :)

THANK YOU for doing the right thing, as others have said, **YOU MADE THE RIGHT CHOICE.**

Before I left, I worked part time in my local hospital too, and when COVID started popping up at this specific hospital, I knew I had been at least within close proximity of a patient or staff member who had been near the patient, so I notified my store manager to let them know. They told me it was ok and that I should still work all of my scheduled shifts. Supposedly, they even cleared it with the DM that it was alright for me to work.

I completely agree that Starbucks should be doing more for their partners, especially with COVID. If there is a positive case, shut the store down. Period. If there is a partner who believes or is concerned that they might have come in contact with it outside of work, allow them to quarantine, no questions asked. Instead, you have managers who, as long as if you're not overly sick and tested positive, would rather have you working and risk it, than having you safe and healthy at home. My store manager literally even refused to send home an SSV who was throwing up in the back room, telling them that they were "fine" and that if they left early they would be written up.

**I (and hopefully everyone else here) applaud you for making the right choice!!!**

It’s sick. They don’t have to say anything about people being infected under the guise of “privacy” of the infected person.
