Infinite transfer (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by SparrowDot
Been transferring from my first store to the one near my college. Home store side of things was clear, the new DM was clear. I messaged the new SM and said he’d clear it. I dunno if he has. I started my transfer Aug 14. That’s when my last day at my old store was. I’ve texting the new SM a multitude of times and keeps acting as if I’ll be on the schedule. Spoiler alert he originally wanted me to start weeks ago but :) hasn’t :) happened. The last time I texted him he said he was on vacation and contact Firstname :) idk who tf that is :) I need to buy textbooks :)

My partner numbers still work, should I drop my end since he hadn’t responded in weeks and get a new job? I’m just concerned for my beans

Honestly the disrespect he’s shown you is a sign. I wouldn’t want to work with someone like that. They are SMs for a reason. If they can’t do a simple task like this and clearly don’t give a damn then they shouldn’t be in that position. If you have other options, I’d say got for it.

I would at least entertain the idea about finding a new job, maybe start looking.

Once the SM gets back from vacation, contact him again, and be very clear and concise. Say something like "Hi \_\_\_\_\_, I know that you approved my transfer request, but I have been waiting \_\_\_\_\_ days/weeks to be put on the schedule. Since it has been so long, I would appreciate it if you can give me an update and put me on the schedule soon, or else I will have to start looking for a new job. I love Starbucks so I truly do want to work at your store, but if I can't be put on the schedule soon then I will need to consider my options."

If this doesn't work, I would also consider reaching out to the DM if that's an option, to see if they can follow up with the SM for you. Even if at this point if you have made your mind up about getting a new job, at least let the DM know why, and explain that you really wanted to work for Starbucks, but given the circumstances, are moving on. This way the DM at least is aware of the situation.

Also, if you haven't already, I would maybe suggest, while the SM is on vacation, stopping by the store you're supposed to transfer to, and ask to speak to the SSV or ASM on duty. Introduce yourself and explain the situation, and just see what they have to say. Try going when the store isn't super busy so that you don't bother them during a busy shift. They might have some insight, or at the bare minimum, you can get a gage for how the store is ran and see if it is the right environment for you.

I’ve gone by the store itself and it seemed great. I think I’m taking what the other commenter said in that the fact he hasn’t gotten back to me may be illustrative that I may not want to work with him. I’ll look into contacting the DM soon
