Would it be worth it to transfer?(self.starbucksbaristas)

I’ve been working at Starbucks for only a month, but my aunt just told me we’ll be moving October 1st. I mean, it’s not like it’ll be super far (it’ll be a 30min drive instead of the 15min it takes me rn) but there’s three different Starbucks location less than ten minutes from my new house. So I was wondering if I should transfer? Because not only will that save gas, it’ll just be a lot more convenient. I’m still learning bar, CS, etc. and so I don’t know if transferring so soon could be worse. Should I just wait and see if it’s too inconvenient to get to/from work? (just to clarify, I like my current store! Everyone is super nice and I love everyone there!)

Since you are moving farther away, you can transfer now and not wait 3 months because you are moving. You need to talk to your SM ASAP and let them know that you are moving and that’s it’s last minute and you need to transfer so your commute is not super long. You also need to contact the stores in the new area and talk to the SMs and see if they accept transfers.

I’m in a somewhat similar situation. I haven’t looked into it too much, but I’ve been at Starbucks for a little over 4 months and I just feel bad leaving so soon. Also, I do like my team at my store. I’m also not moving quite as far, currently it’s about a 7 minute drive to work and from my new place it will be closer to 15 ish, but since I’m an opener I really hate that I will have to get up even earlier to be at the store by 4am. I had a meeting with my ASM and SM where we went over development and I let them know I’m moving and I don’t think it will be an issue, but I might start by if I need to make any changes just shifting to a slightly later shift. My problem is there’s a Starbucks by my second job which will be slightly closer to my new place that the baristas all seem AMAZING! I have become a regular there and it seems to have a great vibe, so I’ve been trying to work up the guts to ask some of my favorite baristas there if they like their team/management

Yeah I’m not familiar with the Starbucks in the area I’m moving to but I think that if I go to those regularly, by the time I hit the 4 month mark I think I’ll have a better idea of what I should do!!

There may be a period within your hire you can’t transfer. I think someone has said that you have to be at your store for 3 months?

That’s generally true, but you can transfer sooner if it’s due to commute/moving.
