186**** here. As someone who loves to bar, it genuinely depends on the person. Some baristas enjoy having a small bit of assistance while on bar, others would rather just do it themselves if that makes sense. I for one would love if someone else got an easy cup of water while I’m pumping out some Frappuccino’s. Learn your team, that’s my biggest word of advice. Figure out what they like and dislike in order to assist them easier wherever you can.

275**** here. I got called out on the sanitation thing too like when customers ask for pup cups at the window I’m just in the habit of getting myself. I wouldn’t be surprised if the girl is just being rude to you because you’re new. I totally had this happen to me when I started. It can be a struggle to get things down and yeah you’ll mess up and slow stuff down but that’s just how you learn. She sounds like she needs to grow up and talk to you instead of being passive

as someone who is basically only on bar i rlly appreciate any assistance from dt but only if there are 2 ppl on dt (dto+dtw) and only the dto person helping out. i’m super particular about sanitation issues during this time and unless the person at window has properly washed their hands i don’t want them touching ANYTHING i have to touch such as the ice scoop or lids,, it is just gross

New partner here as well! I think I am also on my 3rd week. I have a girl that is exactly the same way, no matter what I do I seem to just get in her way and annoy her.....when she comes in she completely ignores me. Honestly I am trying my hardest to just learn the job and be good at it and having this weird vibe with someone because they are new is just awful in an already stressful situation. Be nice to new people!!! We really need it!!!
