I was injured outside of work.. (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by GingerMic
I had a fall accident that resulted in a sprained ankle. It still hurts to stand, so I asked my manager if I should try and get someone to cover for me.

My manager asked when I would be back, and I informed her that I’d like to consult my physical therapist on when a good time for me to return should be, since i have a history of problems with this ankle.

My manager told me that I would have to take a leave of absence, but I don’t really know what that is. Could someone help explain to me what happens during a leave of absence? Will i lose my benefits?

If you need to take time off work because of a injury you sustained outside of work, you need to apply for a Medical LOA. You should be able to access a limited version of the Partner Hub from home. On there you should be able to find more information about benefits and Medical LOAs.

Upvoting and commenting to help you get visibility so someone who knows about this is more likely to see it lol. But also, I’m sure you can ask your manager to explain it to you!

Call the starbucks benefits number and they will be able to clear all your doubts on how benefits and LOA work.

You'd be off the schedule for a period of time. During that time you couldn't use vacation or sick pay. I know you still get to keep the drink discount and markout but I don't know about health benefits for that you would probably want to ask your SM
