Thank you for the kindness this morning, Starbucks. (self.starbucksbaristas)

I tried to send store feedback but I’m kind of doubtful they’ll ever see it, so I figured maybe if I try to post here the kind people over in my random NW suburb of Illinois Starbucks /might/ see this post and know I send my love.

I was the obviously barely-alive girl in the beat up red car. I placed a mobile pickup order at like 11:20 this morning, and when I got to the drive thru, it turned out my app defaulted to a store miles away and I didn’t notice so this store didn’t have the order obviously. I asked them if there was a way to cancel that mobile order and overall I just wanted to order from them and go crawl back into bed. The baristas decided to just make my order and it seems they didn’t charge me for it, though I’m not sure if the location I ordered from will keep the payment or cancel it since I never picked it up.

I just wanted to say a big thank you for the kindness and easygoing service to the people over at this location. Every time I go there I either see friends from high school working or really nice people, and I know human connection is something you’re “supposed” to do but I’m really appreciative of all these people working there and the effort they put in to make your day a little brighter. I have been having a terrible couple of days mentally and if I had to drive over two towns for my mobile order I definitely wouldn’t have been any happier but you guys really took care of me, and I just wanted to thank you. It means more than you’ll ever know even if it was just an almond milk Frappuccino (which I’m sure was even more annoying to have to make but hey, I really wanted to drown out the sadness in sugar)

I'm nowhere near Illinois, but I wanted to tell you that you're exactly the type of customer that keeps me going back to work despite the stress and low pay. I know it's hokey but I genuinely do enjoy the brief and simple human connection of being nice to my customers and trying to make their day. I hope you're feeling better!

thank you!! I’m doing better every day, it’s a process unfortunately it’s been a lull period the past few days. I really appreciate this comment. I think it’s more valuable than ever now to have these kinds of opportunities and moments with how hard it is to actually socialize and all that with COVID even if they’re almost protocol from the place you’re working, haha. Thank you for your kind words <3

I'm glad to hear you're doing better! It definitely is a process and I can totally relate. And yes! All this isolation means work is my only connection to the outside world besides the grocery store. Sometimes a customer will come in and when I ask them how their day is going you can just tell that they're barely holding it together and that coming into Starbucks was the treat to themselves that got them out of bed and out of the house and maybe even out of their own head for a few minutes. I gave a guy a free blueberry scone the other day because he looked so much like he needed a hug!
