Do you prefer other coffee companies? Aka Cheating on Starbucks? (self.starbucksbaristas)

I have an undying love for "third wave" coffee and small roasters. I feel I learned more and developed my coffee palate more extensively than I did with coffee roasters like Stumptown, Cat and Cloud, Verve, etc. But I also love Starbucks for my quick coffee runs and safe place to stop when I need food I know I will like (kinda like safe foods).

Pre-Covid, I always met friends at different local-owned coffee shops rather than starbucks.

As soon as it is safe again, I will be doing the same. I am not paid enough to give money back to starbucks. I refuse!

I never spend my money at starbucks. Getting free coffee on days off is amazing right now. Pre-Covid, I just didn’t drink coffee on my days off.

I would totally go to small coffee shops, but I’m budgeting right now and trying to save up for a move and a down payment on a place so every penny counts haha.

It is a very common occurrence for me to clock out, go home & shower & change clothes, then go to a local coffee shop that has lavender honey oat milk lattes, the best drink on the planet that Starbucks doesn't have lol

Locally, I prefer Dunkin' (PS... If you take the survey on the receipts, you get a free donut, and the large iced coffees with cream and syrup are under $3 with tax where I live - that's $3 for breakfast, heck yes!!!!). One time I forgot to take my Starbucks hat off after a shift and wore it into Dunkin', long story short, the Dunkin' team members all thought it was so funny.

Other than locally, there are two "gourmet" coffee shops that I prefer. The quality of their drinks are 1,000,000x better than Starbucks, and the prices are equivalent or within $1-2.

I will say though that there is nothing quite like a peppermint mocha around the holidays, especially when I travel from Florida up north in the cold weather. So, in a way, Starbucks will have my heart for 2 months of the year, and the other 10 months, it is Dunkin' or someplace else all the way :)
