Okay, I’m going to try this one.

So, yes, unfortunately, you do have to get used to working with cis white men because they are everywhere and you will most likely work with them throughout your life. You say you have a *concious* biased towards cis white men. Okay. But that bias isn’t acceptable at Starbucks any more than a bias against a gay black females would be acceptable. How do you expect to be a supervisor of cis white men when you’re admittedly biased against them?

Starbucks is incredibly inclusive company. My manager is gay, at this point I would say over 50% of my store identifies as something besides heterosexual. If you really feel like this crossed a line, you can absolutely reach out to corporate and they will look into because it is important to them. You do need to realize that Starbucks may decide to transfer you to a different store because it’s easier to transfer baristas than supervisors and your manager can’t exactly demote them for being cis white men.

Good luck.

I agree with this whole statement. You can’t be biased against someone just because they aren’t a minority. Starbucks is an inclusive company and my SM and ASM aren’t heterosexual and half my team doesn’t identify as heterosexual either. We all get along, straight people and white people included. That, of course isn’t the case everywhere, but Starbucks is a much better company for inclusiveness than most.

If you do feel like you’re being persecuted or that your SM is only promoting a certain type of person, then you can address it, but I would make sure you have actual evidence to back up your claims, because it could hardcore backfire against you if you don’t.

To add though, how big is your store? How many employees and how many SSVs? Have other employees felt uncomfortable around the SSVs? Have the SSVs done or said anything to make anyone uncomfortable?

>somehow the fact that the stores ssvs are all cis white men came up

You're hiding something here.

>I don't need a justification for not liking cis white men as my managers

What a line. I mean *wow*.

>I don't need a justification for not liking {**insert hot button identity group here**}

Replace that with whatever you want and re-read it.

Based on this alone I'm going to say that you're not fit to be a SSV in Starbucks. As the individual in the other comment mentioned Starbucks is an *incredibly* inclusive environment.

>2) the team is actually quite diverse (hint it's not) but in the process she outed several people to me yayyyy

I'm not sure what you're upset about here. You had a fear of being in an exclusive group and feeling like a minority and told you this in an attempt to make you feel more comfortable joining the group.

>she's my manager not my therapist

Starbucks SM's in any other restaurant/corporate environment carry the responsibilities of several positions. FoH manager, BoH manager, Inventory manager, as well as Human Resources.
