When do yall stop taking orders @ the drive thru? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by Critical50
So a guy pulls up exactly @ 8 PM. (our current closing time)

My SSV said "Nope!"

This guys clock in his car or some shit mustve apparently said 7:58 or 7:59. But OUR clock said 8. So after we ignore him he pulls to our window and demands to speak to my SSV. Cusses him out. Then leaves.

Do yall still do the "5 minute grace period" or whatever that if someone arrives like 5 minutes after closing you still take their order?

I feel like if we do that for one person we just open the flood gates.

Nope, your time says 8, you stop serving then.
hannamarinsgrandma 9 points 2y ago
Nope, no grace period whatsoever.
Because, then they start whining about it at 8:07 and you let it slide, then 8:10, before you know it, you’re taking an order at 8:25!
Closed means closed!

Nope. If you pull in at 7:59:59, I'll make your drink, but I won't be happy about it. Once it hits 8 though, NO MORE! We tell them we're closed (it helps if you try and sound as automated as possible, people are less likely to argue then). Lock the window, if they pull up and want to argue, ignore them. Not my problem you didn't get here early enough.

When I worked at the drive-thru at CFA, I would always pull this. Just sound like a pre-recorded messaged and say the same line over and over until they drive away

No way. We ignore them at the box and the window and phone calls

I’ve worked at a drive thru location that was so ridiculously busy that at 30 mins to close they would close the cafe/patio. Then, turn off the ovens. Then, at 10 mins to close, they would send a barista down the row of cars to warn them that they stop taking orders promptly at 11pm.

Apparently, they closed every night with a line of cars wrapped around the building.

We close at 7, and we mean 7 !

Nope. Close is close no matter what.

Starbucks “unspoken” policy is that we’re supposed to open 10 minutes before our posted open time and close 10 minutes later. It’s reminiscent of the days when Starbucks were all cafes, but I’ve seen DMs who still expect it.

For me, it mostly depends on where we are in closing. If we haven’t had cars and I’m already in the cleaning process, I’d probably say no too. But if I haven’t really started yet, I probably would have helped that one guy because after that, you could for sure be like no we’re closed, your clock is wrong.

Lol at that. We don’t unlock the doors until opening time and once the clock hits 9, no matter what cars are in line we are donezo
[deleted] 5 points 2y ago
I know, it’s a weird expectation because then like why even have posted hours?
AndrewtheRey 1 points 2y ago
Right? Not only that corporate is pressing our Sm about being over in labor. If we stay open later than scheduled, it doesn’t matter that we made extra money for the company, they want us out of there on time

Lately 90% of our shifts have been shit shows because only 2/5 people on are experienced enough to do anything.

Im the only person that can bar usually, along with my SSV.

Everyone else doesnt know how to do anything, and stares at their phone a lot.

New girl had 10 minutes left of her shift. Instead of actually working, she keeps talking to me.

In that case, shut ‘er down.

Our DM flat out told us that the “ten minute rule” is an old policy from years past and no store in our district is expected to follow it.
[deleted] 1 points 2y ago
Yeah, I’ve had one DM who tried to push it. My manager has been with the company for over 12 years so he’s like, “If there’s someone waiting just open up!”
