Most interesring call outs. (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by Momisnotmyname
We all need to call out sick from time to time, but sometimes life happens and we can't come in for a shift because....

What are some of the most interesting call outs you have had at your store?

Yesterday we had a hit and run car accident, and today was a flooded basement.

We have a guy who acts like an asshole to everyone.

He just calls and says

"I cant make it"

"You..cant make it?"

"Ye"

"Um okay"

I mean... that’s how I’d call out too (not that I ever have). What difference does the reason make? I can’t come full stop.

Technically (at least in my state) you are not required to give a reason. It's done as a courtesy, and because there's a lot of stigma surrounding call-outs because of people abusing the system. That said, I always give a reason.

Your coworker sounds like they just don't feel like working though, that's unfortunate 🤗

I was once late because there was a wild boar standing between my front door and my car. Those things are mean af

1) Dude came in about 10 minutes before their shift supposedly started to get their food and drink mark outs

2) Stepped outside and went to their car to drive off the lot and called my manager to say they can’t make their shift

I still remember this vividly, cracks me up even to this day

Had a band do that once while working at a bar. Came already drunk, used up free drink tickets and then left before their set because one of their guys was getting sick in the parking lot. .

had a call out for the flu a year ago that was conveniently timed with the rave festival they were talking about months before

The sm called out to have a “personal day”
cartwheelkristina 3 points 2y ago
Late because they left their phone at home and turned around to go get it. This call came after I'd left a message for them and 30 mins after their scheduled start time 🤦‍♀️

Not interesting but my SM made me have a panic attack because I had to call out for hitting a median and popping a tire/messing up my alignment 🙃
Momisnotmyname [OP] 3 points 2y ago
If I could.count on one hand how many times I have called my SM from an Emergency Room for one reason or another lol.

Had someone call out bc it was raining. 😖 raining!
Dunber1234 3 points 2y ago
Like light rain of heavy ass downpour causing roads to flood? Cause I can understand over here in Texas we flood during some rain storms.
SnooSongs7317 2 points 2y ago
Like click your wipers 2 times rain

maybe not interesting to those who live in the city, but the only road out of my small town that leads into a major highway directly into the city was closed off due to a car accident. I called my SM panicking that I had no idea when I’d be able to get to work, but she said it was no big deal and to take my time. 😅 ended up not having to call out but still scary.

A partner call out because some ahole stole all of her work clothes and apron at a laundromat. She eventually came in after about an hour because our SM said she could just come in with any appropriate attire and grab a spare apron

I had to leave work early on Halloween because I got the flu and was stuck in the bathroom. My SM and closing crew thought I was making it up. Worst part was calling my ex and his new girl to give me a ride home.....🤪
