The store I’ve managed for four years closed yesterday. (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by ---ugh---
I started at this store 8 years ago as a baby barista and worked my way up to SM and I’ve been managing it for the last four years. We closed our doors and emptied out the whole store yesterday and I’ve never been so sad :(
My entire team was like my family, and while we all still have jobs at different stores it’s so hard to say goodbye! A majority of my partners were able to move to one store together, but I’m relocating to a store about 30 minutes away so I won’t see them anymore.
I know a lot of y’all have store managers who are shitty or don’t care about you, but I’ve seriously put my heart and soul into my partners and customers over the past 4 years. I’m going to miss them so much.
No point to this post really, just wanted to vent about how sad this is.

Aw that is so sweet and sad to read. Different things can make or break a job and a main one is the person you work for. Just reading how you worded your post I can tell you're one of the good ones. So sad to see your team split, but soon enough you'll make your family whole again 💚💚💚

how did you manage to become a manager in 4 years?
---ugh--- [OP] 12 points 2y ago
I worked my ass off and showed dedication to the company!

If you don’t mind me asking, why did the store close? I’ve never actually seen a Starbucks close before

Our lease in the building was up, and we just weren’t making sales. We were a cafe store so that has a lot to do with it.

The one near my campus closed, but it was also overshadowed because small boba tea shop > corporate coffee chain in that entire city's opinion, and there were still literally a shitload of Sbux locations within a 5 mi radius lol.

I wish my alma mater would close a few bux locations. We also had 5+ stores within a mile or two and no one there seems to shop local :( and the local coffee shops are just 100% better.
