We had one douche customer who always insisted on us brewing a fresh pot when he came in, even if one has literally finished brewing a moment ago.
So, we started doing minor sleight of hand. Switching rhe pots when he wasn't looking, pouring a cup of the old coffee and swapping it out before the handoff, stuff like that. Im pretty sure he didnt get coffee less than twenty minutes old more than 20% of the time for a solid three months. And never noticed.
That's the shit that drove me nuts. If you've got something thay you know you like and know exactly what to order for it to be that way, all the power. Making baristas jump through hoops when you can't even tell the difference... That's asshole material.

In my day, drip was more determined by what we needed to use before it became waste, I’m pre pike’s. We had “that guy” that never liked whatever we had on, and since we are all about that third place, we’d have to make him a French dip of whatever he wanted, which was always more expensive shit like AMJ. He knew he was playing us, we knew it, and it was just how it was.

I just started working at Starbucks in June. I got moved to a new store that opened in July. Our managers insist on brewing full batches of all coffees every 10 minutes from 8-11am. I just feel like it’s such a waste we never use it all. I don’t know how much it costs the store, but wow it just seems like so much coffee going down the drain.

We have a regular at our store who gets a venti iced Chai. No milk or ice. We a ked once if she just brought it home and dilutes it, but our questions were silenced when she took a big sip of it at the window.

Its not as bad as this but someone today got 11 pumps of frap roast in their triple grande caramel frap... the frap roast itself went past the bottom line. My coworker tried a small sip of it and almost threw up lmao

WTF?!?! Reminds me of these two drinks. Venti Carmel Frap, heavy cream, extra caramel, extra whip, extra chocolate drizzle. This person would get it twice-ish a week and would alternate with a trenta passion ice tea with 30+ of raspberry and classic.

We have a regular who orders a venti iced quad cocoa cloud macchiato 10 pumps toffee nut, a venti strawberry açaí extra extra berries light water light ice, two venti golden ginger drinks 10 scoops powder 10 pumps ginger syrup in each double blended, a side cup extra mocha drizzle side cup extra caramel drizzle side cup extra golden powder, and a venti hot 10 pump hazelnut latte. And she orders all of this during peak in drive thru...

Our store manager makes us not charge them for the side cups. She’s ridiculous and says they should get what they want. It’s a fine line because I want to have more respect for myself but I don’t want to be on her bad side

I used to have a REGULAR that would order a venti iced chai with 25 pumps of chai, a splash of nonfat and like 4 ice cubes.... it was horrifying every single time.

What is with these customers that expect us to literally count ice cubes? This woman came through our DT and asked for venti iced chi with five ice cubes. I hand her the drink, she takes off the lid and counts the cubes. “I asked for FIVE ICE CUBES!!!!!” There were maybe 10 ice cubes.
