Cold brewing at home? (Guidance pls 🌟)(self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by svveetdee
5-year barista here, I’m excited to say I’ve been challenged by my friend to make an iced coffee better than SBUX can produce, and since spite against corporations is one of my greatest motivators, naturally I want to blow my friend away. I have a good idea for the blend I want to use and how much I’d like to produce — But I could use some guidance with materials. Possible quantities are a quart, two quarts, or perhaps a gallon of cold brew altogether, and I’m thinking of using mason jars, and possibly a cheesecloth to steep. Can anyone suggest a good brand of cheesecloth (as I’ve never used before), or a good size coffee filter to hold the grinds? I’d be incorporating anywhere from 3/4 to 2 1/4 cups of grinds, depending on the quantity I choose to make. Also if mason jars are not it, please guide me lmao xoxo

I just started making cold brews at home and what I do (since it’s all I got right now) is use a french press and keep the cold brew in my fridge for 14-20 hours, I normally get a glass or two which is perfect for me!

I love using my mason jars! I use cold brew filters (you can get different sizes on amazon) I leave mine out on my counter for about 18-20 hours ans voilà! btw people can fight me on this but Ethiopia is the best and most unique coffee we’ve had and you could seriously taste the berry when making cold brew.

You can buy from toddy! They have the size we use at work and then 2 smaller sizes and I think one bigger size
