Rehired! 13 years later. Biggest changes?! (self.starbucksbaristas)

I was hired at Starbucks 13 years ago and worked there 2 years. I was just rehired yesterday. I never worked in a drive through before, either.
What are the biggest changes I can expect to see that have happened in the last 11-13 years??
Cool side note: I get to keep my old partner number and apparently have an older one than all the managers in stores in my area.

We have mobile order and uber eats at most stores. The new trend is adding cold foam to literally everything. Each week we start seeing random new drink orders because customers see stuff on Tik tok and they want us to make it. Customers are more brutal, we have new covid protocols, that means no condiment bars in the cafes and more rules we need to follow.

There are some baristas who have Tik tok accounts and they make up all these random “secret menu” drinks, sometimes they give instructions sometimes they don’t so the customers are confused and expect us to know what they are talking about, when in reality it’s not a real menu drink. Sometimes it’s refreshers with random mods, or Frappuccinos with a bunch of syrups and add ins.

Grossss. I remember people used to do this back in the day but obviously not through social media- it was pure experimentation and word of mouth. Lol

I was a rehire w a large gap as well. My number is definitely the oldest one around!!

😂 this is also me. I worked back in 2008-2009. There were no ovens, hot sandwiches or weird tea refreshers. I started last week. Boy do I have a bunch to learn.

Most people want warmed pastries so those go in the ovens and they have several types of combinations for drinks now and much more choices.
Trying looking at their menu to get accustom to all the breakfast sandwiches and the newer drinks like the cold foam, cloud foam, and the refreshers.
They also changed the way they make the Frappuccino’s.
