Your wages will never reflect how much your store makes. Starbucks gives out raises once a year, unless you’re being promoted, and that’s it.
If your store is hiring new people, then that probably means that they anticipate that your store is going to get busier and with that means making sure that you’ll have enough *competent* baristas on deck when that happens. I know this year isn’t “normal” but it is normal for there to be periods of time, especially before holidays, where hours get cut because we’re packing our floor in preparation.
It could also be that since your store is busy, you’re taking baristas that are eventually bound for other stores once their business increases. Or the opposite may be true, the “new hires” may actually be transfers from other stores who are doing far less business than you are.
Right now, yeah, a lot of people are feeling simultaneously under and overworked.
