What do you say on DTO to spice it up/make customers smile? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by PrettySax3
When I'm on DTO, I like to say fun things to make the customers smile and have some fun with them, and I was curious if anyone else has some phrases/jokes they use on DTO.

My favorites:

1) Customer: "I'd like a bacon gouda sandwich"

Me: "Sounds *gouda* to me, what else can I get you?"

2) "Thank you for choosing Starbucks, you're one stop caffenation destination, what can I start for you?"

3) Customer: "I'd like a spinach feta wrap

Me: "I cant thing of a *feta* choice, what else can I get you?"

4) Customer: "I'd like those egg bites (whatever type)"

Me: "Eggscelent choice, what else can I get you?"

Lowkey, I'm totally looking for new things to say/do in drive thru and I'd love some ideas

I love to spice it up when I had off drinks like ‘extra fluffy cappuccino’ or ‘prettiest macchiato I’ll make today just for you!’ And other silly things like ‘the most delicious smelling blueberry muffin’, it catches people off guard and makes me smile, plus makes them excited for their drink/food too :)

One of my baristas always use to change her accent each day she was on DTO so that when customers came she sounded like she was from a different country each day

Lol I used to say "alright alright alright your total is ___" like in a Matthew McConaughey voice and see if people would notice.

Welcome to Starbucks, your caffeination station.
Doesn't usually get a laugh...

When I'm on window I like to say "you may escape", or if they have to wait I just lean in and say it's just a chance for us to hang out.
I also sing orders back to people through the head set, they love that.
Yes, I am exhausting to work with lol

Genuine interaction is always best. So just let it flow!

1) Me on DTO: “Hi welcome to Starbucks, how’re you doing today?”
Customer: “Okay/Well/anything less than great”
Me: “What could I get started for you to turn that okay/well/etc. into an excellent/fantastic?”

2) Handing out a caffeinated drink, “And here’s your caffeine...” esp in the morning, I get laughs from that bc the drink ain’t important, it’s just a vessel for caffeine lol
