Is anyone else like.... chronically exhausted all the time?

I tell my parents and they say they get it but they definitely don’t. I can tell they don’t think that I should be this tired.

I mostly open or do really early shifts, but even my days off I’m so tired all I do is lay in bed all day and drift in and out of sleep.

Anyone else feeling this way? Am I just unhealthy?? 🤣

I think having self-care is important for times like this.

I used to to opening shifts after closing at in n out (2 am) the night before. I still force myself to workout everyday. However, on days I have off work, I’d force myself to engage in self-care activities. This includes facials, massage (I have back pain), random beach trips (I live in SoCal), eating healthy, not drinking so much coffee, etc. (doing whatever relaxes you)

Also, I quit Starbucks because of the toll it took on my mental health and my skin. Now I work at in n out and have a full time job and am not nearly as stressed/tired as I used to be. If you’re like me, I’d recommend finding another good job and then quitting Starbucks. Not sure if you’re in the same situation but that’s what helped me

Heck man even during night shifts I find it hard to do absolutely anything on my days off when I actually get them. I think the understaffing and extra covid work is putting a toll on baristas all over the place

Ugh yes! I slept at 10:30 last night and woke up at 8:30 still feeling tired. If I nap after a morning shift (which is almost always) I sleep for 4 hours or more sometimes. I genuinely don't understand it

It’s getting so frustrating! I don’t want to have to change my schedule because I do like having the rest of the day free and opening is typically easier. But my health is being affected and I’m annoyed

I'm a closer, but... I feel you. On my day off I'm just wiped. Get up, eat breakfast, go back to bed, maybe be up in time to run groceries or errands and do laundry for the week.

I should probably drink less coffee, but I feel like I can't, not and keep up with the demands of my high volume store.

Are you me? I’m a full time student and a full time SSV (35+ hours a week) and I’m constantly exhausted. My sleep schedule has messed itself up so I’ll come home from an open and then sleep for like 5-6 hours, do some homework, then take a 1-2 hour nap before I open again.

Same opening this store for minimum wage is so rough combined with school. To make it worst when I open I don’t leave until noon or later it’s so bad

It’s weird, I was less tired when I was doing school with work. I think I’m feeling so unfulfilled now that I graduated that this job being all I have takes so much out of me

Damn for real I’m always so tired

No you’re not alone in that feeling at all! I work all morning shifts, the latest I go in if I’m lucky is 7 & that’s very rare cause I’m either 5:30 or 6, but at the end of every shift I’m just mentally and physically exhausted & on my days off I don’t do anything unless I absolutely have to. I’ve gotten to where I’ll request a day or two off and plan little self care things like get my hair done or go get a mani/pedi & grab lunch with a friend or my mom on those days and it’s helped me some but I’m still always tired after my shifts.

This was me. The ONLY solution is consistent sleep. Your body will adapt to the early mornings, but youve gotta give it some help
[deleted] [OP] 1 points 2y ago
It’s so hard to get some consistency when my schedule isn’t consistent. I open one day and the next I don’t work until 10-11, my body is thrown through a loop.

I seriously understand! When I was going through this, I would try to keep my alarm set for 6 am even on the days that I dont work or go to work late. I usually try to get up, move around and eat breakfast... even if I end up taking another nap before really starting my day, it really helped my body adjust to the early mornings.

It’s important as an opener to go to bed at a reasonable time. I wake up at 4:30am daily, so I go to bed around 8:30-9:00pm.

Melatonin helps. Maybe talk to your doctor about this, at it could be a symptom of a larger issue that’s treatable.

I do smoke medical marijuana before bed, that gets me to sleep way earlier than I used to. But still not usually earlier than 10:00.
hopelovepeace33 3 points 2y ago
I go to bed at 10:00 as well and I’m still physically and mentally exhausted at the end of every shift unless it’s a baby shift which I’ve only gotten like once recently and I was out of there faster than the flash running at full speed 😂
jacobmittens 2 points 2y ago
I’ve found I’m a lot less tired in the mornings when I don’t smoke weed before bed, but that might just be me. Try it out once and see how you feel!
[deleted] [OP] 3 points 2y ago
Oh yeah that’s definitely not me. Before I started smoking before bed, I couldn’t sleep any earlier than midnight. It’s actually made things a lot better, believe it or not. These past couple weeks have just been really rough for some reason.
