There’s an anti-abortion protest outside of my Starbucks right now(self.starbucksbaristas)

There’s at least 100 people protesting and people keep coming in to get coffee before going out. There are no clinics anywhere near us. People are taking their children out to stand in the street for hours in the sun.
Anti-women’s rights sponsored by Starbucks lol
(I know there’s nothing we can do and it’s their right and all that but 😔)

I’d rather not say where but the proud boys marched by my store yesterday. Like literally right by the front door, I looked up and saw literal Nazis marching and a Trump car parade going by both at the same time.
I feel your pain and I hope you’re doing okay. 💚

That’s genuinely scary, wow. I hope you and your partners are okay as well, I can’t imagine.

Oh we’re totally fine. We started making fun of them actually and customers joined in and it was kind of a funny WTF moment. It was a little out of place in the town we’re in because we don’t particularly lean left or right. It’s a very evenly split town full of good people who don’t really get into political arguments or protests all that much and you could tell that they (the proud boys involved) weren’t from here. They were just here looking for trouble that anyone that lives here could’ve told them they weren’t going to find. It happened on the same day that a bunch of stuff involving far right leaning political groups happened across the broader area around the city so it wasn’t entirely unexpected. Just kind of ironic that they decided to march in front of my store full of young, LGBTQ+, fairly liberal partners and customers.
To be honest I value our customers so much and a lot of them are younger kids who hang out at our store or are in and out on their bikes all day and I was more focused on keeping them safe than anything else.
