What do other partners do that bother you?(self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by Tacenda20
Hey guys, this is my first time posting on here and I just had a question (the same one in the title).
What do other partners do that bother you?
It could be the way they sequence tasks, don't clean up their mess, how they clean, ect. I just want to know what bother you about others work. I think sometimes I am bothered by things that shouldn't bother me but I've always been like that. I am not asking this question to bring out the negative parts of working with a team but rather what I should maybe be mindful of and to see if the same things that bother me bother others.

When people leave pitchers/blenders/shakers on the rinsers and walk away and start making other drinks and NEVER TAKE IT OFF so it just sits there, half the time barely actually rinsing because there’s no pressure.
Such a small, stupid thing but seriously irks me.
They’ll leave EVERY GODDAMN MILK OUT on bar, so there’s no space to make drinks.
A rush will be over and then won’t clean up the mess and everythings sitting out but walk away and start talking to people. Like you can do both!!!

I’ve had a few transfers ask “Do I have a [food item] coming up?” When literally everyone is busting their ass making 80 mobiles. Like, please just wash your hands and go get it like everyone else

Things that bother me is when they don't clean as they go, never FIFO milks or rotate products, leave rags on the counter, and put stickers on the barcodes/quantity tally or don't mark the boxes accurately for counts. I would bargain with the devil and let them put dirty mocha pumps in my clean dish water to get it together.

When people leave pitchers/blenders unwashed on the counter after they use them. Why?? It takes time for me to then wash them, and then make the drink I need.

When I get charged for my drink on my day off even though the free beverage and food got extended till March.

-When someone is in drive thru and you're on bar and they are constantly asking where the next drink is. Have some patience; I'm working as fast as I can! I feel like you shouldn't ask unless you think that somehow the drink was forgotten, like if you're getting all the drinks after the one you're waiting for and no sign of the one you need.
-When you're on bar and someone jumps in to help because you're getting slammed, but they take all the lattes and fun drinks, leaving you all the frapps and refreshers. 😡
-Partners who encourage the pay it forward trains. Just stop!

For me, it’s filling the sanitizer bucket up all the way. When it’s filled up too much, you’re more likely to spill the water, so I always fill it up halfway. The other night a partner filled the bucket up too much and spilled some of the water on the floor. He went to go do something and another partner(who wasn’t aware of the spill) slipped and hurt her ankle. She was off of work for a two days.

When people don’t fully rinse the blenders. Especially after a strawberry creme, green tea frap or java chip/double chocolate chip. It doesn’t take long to properly rinse it. And if you don’t, at best the next partner has to take time to try and fully rinse it or even clean it and at worst the next drink has other ingredients in it and you have to remake it.

when whoever does the pumps forgets the ring for the syrup gaskets. Ahhhh!

This is a dangerous topic for me after Sunday.
When I am on Cold Bar and people are passing drinks over to me and they have no hot drinks to prep. At one time I had 12 cold drinks lined up, both bars did not have any hot drinks to make.
I told them, don't be afraid to grab a few drinks over here, I am drowning.

I used to order raw sugar in my iced coffee before being a barista and would always need to specify to run a little hot water over the sugar to melt it so it’s not just sitting at the bottom...
Also, circle-swirl those cups while shots are pouring over the syrup/mochas and mix!
jae4591 points2y ago
Okay yes the last one. Like it’s take no time at all to swirl it!! Not as big of a deal for syrups but like mochas come on!

When the morning team hasn't done anything to help prepare the closers, ie make mocha, stock milks/cups, make cold brew, do floors

THEY DONT CLEAN AS THEY GO!!!!!!!

Constantly telling me to do stuff that doesn't really fucking matter! When I get called in and it's peak and I haven't stopped moving since I got in who cares if my phone is in my pocket! And then... Bringing it up again while I'm still flying around because it "isn't fair to the other partners". I legit took it out to date a cube of coffee. No one cares. Relax.
NO ONE BREWING FRESH COFFEE AND GIVING NASTY SHIT TO CUSTOMERS SET A FUCKING TIMER

Unwashed pitchers, and standing around during rush. I’m totally there with you on the need to relax once we get a breather, but if there’s a rush, and you have nothing to do, there is a syrupy counter to be wiped down, beans to be stocked, an ice bin to fill.

When I see chemicals on the bar, it drives me crraazzzyyy. If I put, for instance, the blue spray from on top of the counter on the baseboard handle so it’s hangs and I turn around to see it yet again on the counter it drives me up the wall more than any venti iced chai with pumpkin cream cold foam could.

I hate it when people are ridiculously messy on bar and they don't rinse their shaker/steam pitcher/blender etc. It drives me fucking bananas
