Walked out today and I don’t regret it.(self.starbucksbaristas)

I work at a licensed starbucks that now schedules only two people per shift. This one supervisor has been making snarky comments to me every shift I’ve been working at. Anything that goes wrong in the store is automatically my fault. The store has been getting so busy but HMS host is so greedy they’d rather keep labor extremely low at employees expense. After being treated like crap and being lectured by supervisors and managers about COVID-19 policies while not wearing a mask I realized it was time to go. I’m not gonna get treated this way for 10$ an hour. Especially since I ended up getting sick from work and went to the ER. Well today I kept getting so many rude comments by my supervisor, so I just walked out. The line was long and she had only two temporary baristas to work with. Only me and her were scheduled to closed. I don’t feel bad because she treats customers better than me. I’ve always took the blame for the rude comments since I don’t have time to talk back. I’ve never stood up for myself like this before but her being rude every shift is not worth chump change. I’m a junior in college and I should be focusing on internships not SB, but I don’t want to deplete my savings. I’m very thankful that I can financially walk out without worrying about money.
Bonus: While she was making rude comments to me, my phone kept ringing and I thought it was robo calls. After I walked out, I checked my phone and I was offered an interview at another company that pays more than this job and is closer to me. Tomorrow I was scheduled to close but instead I am going to my interview. I guess it’s time to say goodbye to this sub. Y’all deserve better and I wish good thing to all the nice baristas and higher ups.
Update: The interview went really well and I’ll know in a few days if I get hired. I’m pretty sure I got the job so I’m not worried about that. But holy hell, I met the employees and they are so nice. One employee was telling me that I will be fine and working there would be great. He apparently is the store’s favorite employee and every customer I saw him greet was very happy to see him. He told me that since I dressed niced and showed up on time, I shouldn’t be worried. He even said he was rooting for me and I’ve only talked to him in the span of 2 minutes. I’ve never seen a work environment that positive. Let me just say that I walked out of the job interview and almost cried on my way home with tears of joy because the universe was DEFINITELY at play here. I saw the signs but I just kept brushing it off, but now when I think about, there is no coincidence.

I hope you get that job!! And good for you. It’s Fckin disgusting how I’ve seen higher ups screw over baristas to maintain the bottom line.

Girl yes. don't look back. Good luck with your next job. Hms host was a fast soul sucker for me. I only lasted about 3 months. The management and the rude entitled airport customers was too much for me. I don't get enough for that bs

Sorry to hear that your experience was like this, but congratulations on the job interview! I hope it goes really well! (Let us know if you get it 🙂)

One of the best things I’ve done was leave Starbucks. They don’t support their employees and cover it up with the benefits. I hope you get that new job!

Why does everyone in this group seem to have horrible management experiences? I’ve had nothing but pleasant experiences with like 98% of my managers and ssvs at all of my 5 home stores in my 7 years.

Mines is definitely a licensed store thing. HMS host has bad reviews all around the US. They had Chili’s employees clean the store then fire everyone on the spot in the middle of Covid. That company is extremely terrible has a really high turnover rate. Most people I was hired with already quit. I was an outlier staying that long. I saw warnings on this sub about HMS but I decided to suck it up. I should have left a long time ago but I was being too nice for my own good.

That might be what it is. Other than pay, Starbucks is a great company to work for. Some of the best people Ive ever met I met at Starbucks, including some of my managers. You’d probably have a foot in the door if you try to get a job at a corporate store.

Yeah definitely. I’ve been applying for corporate a while but never got an answer. But it’s ok since I’m only a part timer.

Well good luck with whatever happens.

I worked for HMS host licensed Starbucks and it was the worstttt. One time they wouldn’t let me go home even though I kept vomiting. Glad you left and good luck!

My interview at Starbucks was like that. I hate that Starbucks isn't the same place it was a few months ago where everyone at my looked forward to work. I really hop everything works out for you!

During my last week here I kinda wish I had a SSV who would be rude to me. Thats the ultimate fuck you.
I walked out once on a boss I'd actually describe as a psychopath. It felt so good.
