It’s normal for closing at my store, but definitely not worried about times that much at night

I find it depends on the store. I work at one of the busiest stores in my region. I normally work opening shifts and have also done a few closing shifts as well. The closer to open or closing time it is, the more positions I end up doing. As more people come and as peak hours approach, each partner gets assigned to their positions for the morning, only switching to cover breaks.

At my store, doing window, DTO, and warming in the afternoon alone is not super unusual. When pre-close starts, we tend to not have a dedicated warmer as not that many food items get ordered by that point. DTO becomes responsible for drive thru food and POS becomes responsible for cafe/mobile food. By late afternoon, DTO will solo at drive thru AND still be responsible for their food. Times don’t matter in the afternoon as long as they are not ridiculously high and as long as customer connection is high. It’s definitely doable and I’ve even been on the floor by myself in the morning getting DTO/W, bar, warming, and setting up the store. I also have spent a couple peaks being warmer, POS, and CS as well because 1. we had a call out/no show, 2. the shift was needed to handle an incident and they needed to be covered or 3. the person at either CS or POS was just being lackadaisical. Fortunately, my manager is very understanding and is more lenient on times in those situations within reason (example: if we are short and a person has to solo at drive thru during peak, as long as our times are under 60-90 seconds and customer connection stays high, she’s happy).

I know that used to be "normal" during slower shifts BUT! That was before the pandemic.
Don't forget - this isn't normal because we are supposed to be planted for positions that come in contact with the public to limit exposure during the pandemic.
That was what was communicated to me whem I pressed my DM.

Depends on the location and time of day. I quit Starbucks last year, but I still find this subreddit interesting. I was a mostly closing shift for 5 1/2 years, and one location it was only me and one barista. It was very slow. Often 0-3 customers in the last hour. I’d make drinks and run front in between managerial and cleaning duties. They’d run dto/dtr and warming in between cleaning duties. However your shift needs to calm down. I’m sure they just don’t want the sm or dm to get upset with them on window times, but acting like that isn’t going to help anything.

I think this is really a store by store thing. I would never have someone working all three at my store Pre-covid except for a few hours in the evening. Occasionally only two of those roles to a person and during peak, and few hours after, three people one for each role.

Like the other comments, it depends on the store, time of day and the business. Usually if it’s pretty slow, I might be put on DTO, window and warming, but if times get above 3-4 minutes, I usually ask for help or they come to me anyway. They definitely shouldn’t be up in your face if they’re not giving you the support that you need for reasonable times.
