Went today for a 5 hour shift

It became a 12 hour shift.

I told DM that I should be getting OT for this. They said "they'll think about it".

No breaks. No lunch.

Now; I've worked longer days at other jobs. But those were ones that I got to control the flow. Bartending shifts easily hit 16 hours some days.

But man.

I'm smoked. Really wondering if it's still worth it to keep working here.

Was late to my other job due to this. And I've told the managers/leads that I have not much spare time on Tuesdays.

Sometimes it just feels like in one ear and out the other.

Dude transfer and call corporate. It’s illegal not to get breaks

“Fair Labor Standards Act doesn’t require employers to provide meal or rest breaks”. Might be an sbux policy but from what I understand it is not required by law.

Breaks aren't mandated by law; they're nice but not necessarily required.

Granted, most places won't prevent breaks of some kind. In my state you're required to provide them to Minors (i think it's 4 hour period that they can work without a break).

My state has a compliance law if you work more than 6 hours
asst2therglmgr 2 points 2y ago
Eh, it’s a federal law. Did you verify that?
ih8yogurt 1 points 2y ago
That my state has a mandatory compliance? Yes

maaaaan I would’ve stayed to help too, but still left in time to get to my second job.. sucky situation I’m sorry
SirBroseph_III [OP] 3 points 2y ago
I try to help as best I can: come in early to help openers. Stay late when I can.

On my end it's money. I'm sure my fellow partners appreciate it. But damn does it feel like I'm just getting shafted by management on the regular.

I feel you, I worked nine days straight and tomorrow is my day off, I will not be answering the phone to them at all!! On Friday I worked 9 hours without a break and my SM was like everything is ok, this is fine as he walked off the floor and took a break and went on admin time
Luv_1313 3 points 2y ago
I feel the pain there benefiting from your dedication and hard work.
asst2therglmgr 2 points 2y ago
Not getting breaks is bullshit but not illegal and unless you worked over 40 hours for the week you aren’t eligible for over time.
SirBroseph_III [OP] 3 points 2y ago
Yea; I work pretty close to 40 on average; today puts it closer to 50 hours.
_kimmv 1 points 2y ago
You should get a break after the 2nd hour of you working??? Call your district manager ASAP
SirBroseph_III [OP] 1 points 2y ago
It's "nice" to have; and really nice when it's explained in training that this is the case.

Just long day energy
SirBroseph_III [OP] 1 points 2y ago
Federally that only applies to Minors and I believe Union workers.

Could be wrong bout that last part though

Dude I just leave as soon as my shift ends and someone is there to replace me
