I don't know what to do anymore(self.starbucksbaristas)

Today was honestly the worst shift I have ever worked and it wasn't busy or anything but still. I'm going to school and working 30-40 hours a week. We don't have that many partners that are fully trained and my SM is looking at me developing with the company. I am so tired and I constantly feel like I just can't do anything right. I had a negative interaction with a fellow partner today where I was just trying to help and they got really upset with me and essentially said that the sm was gonna hear about how disrespectful I was being. I've had a lot going on recently and that was just the straw that broke the camels back and I am just so done. I can't afford to quit otherwise I might but I just don't have the energy to be Starbucks level happy anymore and my mental health has gone down the drain.

your mental health is very important, and i promise you working at starbucks will not improve your mental health. Im sure there are many jobs that would love to take you in, but please do what you have to do! your health is important

Do you have the possibility to transfer to a different store? My current store has become toxic; mentally, emotionally, and physically. 5 partners have transferred to other nearby locations and their demeanor changed like someone flipped a light switch. I myself will be following in kind in 2 weeks. Reach out to other stores, see if you can pickup in their locations. Then have your SM reduce you hours there to 20-25/week. You quite possibly may find the support you need elsewhere.

This is the only store in the area the others are about 30 minutes away. There aren’t really toxic people they are all pretty nice but it’s just a lot. Interactions like that don’t happen often it’s just killing me that I’ll have something okay going for me and to feel like I could just lose it all at once. I probably just need sleep but I’ll talk to my SM about reducing my hours. Thank you.

I started scheduling one weekend per month that I have off. My comments in there legit say 'mental health' because this job, even as a part timer, is killing me.
Do not feel scared to tell your SM you need to either reduce your hours or request off a few days or seek coverage for a few days out of your schedule. Burnout, especially right now with the pandemic, is super real.
You aren't alone in this. I don't know you, but the fact that you're posting here about this concern means you have a good work ethic and want to do your best. I believe you are.

This is smart and could mean the difference between up and quitting and changing the situation for the better and still being able to keep Starbucks.
I'm saying this after finding coverage for two shifts next week bc the burnout is high rn.

Yeah I guess I just needed to think about it but I don’t really want to quit my job I’m probably just tired.

That’s actually a really good idea and my manager is really good about working with us so I probably will do that. Thank you so much I really appreciate it.
