So in this case one of 3 things would happen

1) your SM went ahead and made a schedule an additional week out (most likely) In this case when they return, they see your two weeks notice and scrap the schedules they've made and redo them. This is nbd because they have plenty of time to adjust.

2) they'll make the schedule at home or wherever they are while on vacation (kinda likely) In this case when they come to the store and see your notice they, again, redo the schedule and it's nbd because they have time.

3) the SM that's your POC while your original SM is out would make the schedule (very unlikely) In this case the POC would likely contact your SM and either a) not make the schedule or b) take you off it.

Honestly if I was an SM and someone *texted* me their two weeks I'd wipe them off the schedule immediately. Granted I'm not an SM and that's probably not something the DM would smile upon.

Talk them in person, but just give them a weeks notice at that point. Or you can probably tell your DM, but that would still probably be over email.

Company policy is fhat if you are putting in two weeks, it is to be done in person, policy says that a text is never to be an official or appropriate from of communication, and phone calls are only to be used in an emergency. To be completely honest, as an ASM if you texted me your two weeks idk if I would have responded but I would probably have told you need to come tell me in person and that text is not appropriate

If you are willing to work for the company a few days longer than the best thing to do is to wait until they return from vacation. If that’s not an option then there should always be a person covering for your store while your SM is on vacay and you would reach of your them and let them know

Uhhh yeah. Talk to your SM in person and leave a written notice on paper. It’s flat out rude and unprofessional to text them your notice. Managers are people too with days off and complete lives outside of work.

i’m guessing they didn’t respond because it’s unprofessional to text your two weeks. it’s way better to tell your manager in person. So they’re seeing you are a bit unprofessional and probably not a big fan of you anymore. also not completing your two weeks is even worse & if you do that you better not put them as a reference for anything because i don’t think they’ll help you out. this is all just honest stuff. good luck to you!!!

Also, I agree with what the “hamburglar”😂 said. type an email with the date you put in your two weeks & put in on their desk

When they come back, I’d ask to talk to them in their office. Tell them you didn’t know what to do since they were on vacation & you had no one to give your two weeks too. Hopefully they understand a bit. But definitely just make sure you talk to them alone & have a 1 on 1 about it.

Either call or leave a written notice on paper, ideally both. I’m sure your manager isn’t trying to be malicious by not responding, but coming from a SM taking over a store that’s a disaster right before Holiday launch the shit gets beyond exhausting. We are pushed to our limits just like our partners and it’s emotionally taxing. A partner texted me last night giving me 5 days of notice and it genuinely was the straw breaking the camels back. Not to go on a tirade but I’m also a student and have a month old niece I haven’t been able to meet because of work so please try to be understanding with your SM and remember they have their own mountain of shit to climb lol.

Tbh, a lot of managers do this. They just kinda ghost people that are leaving the company. I think you should probably mention it again, maybe around your last week just to ensure they wont keep scheduling you and end up screwing over the floor, but def don’t show up. It’d be their own faults.

Type your two weeks in an email. Send it to your SM as well and print it out and leave it on the SMs desk in an envelope with the SMs name on it. Your SM should have a proxy if they are on vacation so find out who the proxy is and email it to them as well.

Give them a paper notice. Not a personal text.

ALWAYS give a notice on paper. You should have your last day written in writing because otherwise the manager can avoid sticking to your last day.
