Starbucks, you don’t pay us enough or give us the hours we need to afford something to treat ourselves with. We’re barely surviving with what you give us, so kindly shut up. (i.redd.it)

One time I asked my manager if I could get more hours because my $300 paychecks didn’t cover rent, and he told me maybe I should cut back on drinking (???) and that “learning to budget is hard but important.”

What the fuck? My ass would be on partner resources so quick.

Just sayin, unionized workplaces pay much higher on average than non-unionized ones....
The only power we have in this transaction is the COLLECTIVE withholding of our work, and the best (and safest) way to do this is a Union.

Here's an article talking about $1 in Canada, here's one about a union that $1 BC!

Partners at my store, and a bunch of my friends across the province are talking about unionizing too! I have some friends that have already signed cards.

Message me if you have questions, or leads!
(sorry for the new account... I'm going to be pretty much exclusively posting here. Reddit has been bad for my productivity since quarantine lol)

I honestly would love to. But everyone at my store lost hope so long ago I can’t even get them to file formal complaints against our manager. Every time someone has tried to stand up and fight against the injustices we face in our store we just get shut down by corporate or our DM... no one cares enough to fight anymore and even I’m getting tired. How long do we have to go through the disrespect, blatant apathy to our concerns and problems, and the way corporate uses us as pawns to get them a higher bonus? I’m tired of it and wish I could get out but finically I’m not stable enough. This places sucks. This is not what I signed up for 6 years ago...

There are legit grievances here that can be leveraged EASILY. I know people are tired, but with the right motivation, they can be stoked again. Signing a union card is easy peasy lemon squeezy. Literally costs 2$, is done in two minutes.

If you're in Canada, $1 and ask questions. It can't hurt. I was really discouraged too, but after talking to them I'm more than sure that it's possible. Unionizing isn't just a possibility, it's a necessity. We either take what is ours or the system collapses. It's the only leverage we have and we have to use it.

(when talking about worker struggle DONT TALK ABOUT UNIONS DIRECTLY unless you're 100% sure you can trust the person- talk generally about grievances and the worker's (lack of) power to address them, and how their employer is making a concerted effort to undermine their interests, its that easy)

I’m in the United States, so even just saying Union could get you fired.

Here too. Like unionizing 101 is don't say union. Everything stays on the DL till the union is signed and running.

I'm not super familiar with how it works after a place is unionized in the USA, if they can shut it down, transfer people out, etc. Y'all are probably gonna need a second workers movement to really start huckin bricks or wtv when businesses try to break up unions.

Up here we're lucky in that Unions have quite a lot more power, so once you're unionized, you're pretty safe from being fired or shutdown (union can take on the lawsuit, laws are a little better, etc).

The site is a joke. There are almost no discounts worth your time

They get away with paying you shite because they don’t care about you. Literally any partner could quit at any time regardless of how long they’ve been with the company and Starbucks wouldn’t bat an eye. There is a line around the block of potential new hires.

That's funny you get rewards at all. I work at a grocery store 😅😅😅
