I’ve been with the company for about 3 and 1/2 years. I’ve been demoted and promoted twice. I was recently demoted due to a “lack of consistency” in my performance at work. I’ve trained partners, asms, managers, and corporate executives as well as countless partners for my district. I’ve been used constantly by my managers and peers to the point where I had hit overtime for 3 months in a row, as well as worked 17 days straight at one point. The working conditions for this company over the years has gradually hit rock bottom. In recent weeks I’ve still contributed to the store in a shift supervisor aspect by delegating breaks, doing pulls, and running the floor when my former shift peers were incapable of running their own shifts. I did so voluntarily as to ensure the sanity of my fellow partners. I’ve been mentally drained the last few months during this COVID-19 bullshit and I can happily say leaving the company has been my best decision so far. For anyone debating on quitting due to these unfair circumstances, please consider leaving if it’s an option. And for those who choose to stay; please stay strong, I’m in your corner.

I recently quit bc it was too much during covid and I have school on top of it. I debated quitting since I need the money but I decided it was for the best. Best decision made imo

151xxxx,
I left in 2016 after 7 years.
I realized that every single year I worked was worse than the last. Less tips, less hours, eroding benefits, more turnover, employees expected to do more with less time.
Starbucks is not a lifetime job. I wouldn’t have sad that before 2015 but I know it now.
**For Baristas who have a year or more in:** Did you know people fucking love seeing Starbucks on a resume? I got a $1 because of Starbucks. I’m gonna make over 40k this year talking to people on the phones... because of Starbucks. I loved a lot of things about working there and mostly the people, but always remember “Starbucks is not a forever job.”

223 here, my last day was the first, after aiming to be store manager for the last couple years. I’ll fight any customer being mean to baristas at this point and now I’m not working for Starbucks, they can’t fire me for it.

I work for a funeral company now, people only call when someone they love has died. I am not as stressed and emotionally drained as I was as a barista. They seriously fucked up.
