I start my training tomorrow at Starbucks and I’m a little nervous. I’m scared I’ll forget how to make the drinks or I won’t know how to do register or take orders quickly. Does anyone have any tips, experiences,(and maybe some reassurance) they can spare?

Two years ago I started at Starbucks as a hire from a local coffee company that was cafe only, and a lot slower. The drive thru overwhelmed me, I cried most shifts, I wanted to quit. Everything seemed impossibly confusing and I was so nervous.

Now I'm a shift at one of the busiest stores in my large city. You'll get there, if you stick with it. I promise you will. It's going to be rough, but you'll be amazed how good you are after two months.

Starting is difficult, but exciting. Be patient with yourself.
I tell my trainees that you need to give yourself time; 2-3 Months to feel confident you know the basics, but you'll pick up some things faster than others and you'll enjoy certain tasks better than others. You'll meet Partners that make things look easy, but please know that you aren't expected to know everything immediately - there is a lot to learn. Just take it all bit by bit and enjoy the ride. Smile, ask questions, get to know your Partners. Best of luck, Welcome aboard!

Just be patient and don’t forget — it’s only coffee. My manager told me it takes 3 months to really adjust and I think that statement in itself has helped with anxiety because it can definitely be overwhelming. Best wishes! I hope your team is awesome and you leave work with confidence!!!
